The company is small, independently run and based in Oulu. Its field is narrow by choice — specialized research materials, with an emphasis on peptide- and protein-related applications.

Oulu supports a concentration of health science, biomedical and technology research that is unusual for a city of its size.
That environment provides a useful reference point for the way Vaela works: carefully documented, narrowly focused and without unnecessary scale.
